So I wake up to this mess

  • So when his story is picked up by other media outlets they will read though all the posts to the third page and see where he says Sherman doesn't deal with these guys and that Lyles wasn't involved with Martellus' decision? Guess again, pal. He could have mentioned that in his original post, but that would have significantly weakened his story. I have been exchanging e-mails with this hack all day and believe me, he knows what he is doing.

    A&M has already had to make a statement about Will Lyles since these stories broke and do you honestly think they will continue to pursue a recruit prominently displayed on Lyles' webpage? You don't think Mack will use this to imply we might have some problems with the NCAA to Cole, Starts, Magee, etc?

    But I guess you've got it all figured out.

  • And, for the record, I have not asked for Taylor to write any bullshit stories about rumors of tu paying for recruits. I have directly asked Bobby to fix his story and have suggested Taylor and Aubrey encourage him to do the same thing.

    Why are we assuming that USA Today is going to have a front page spread of Burton's 247 article for the Sunday paper?

    And yes, his opinions about the Sherman era would most definitely be relevant in the event that a major source wanted to use his article. That post has been documented.

    My opinion would be entirely different if:

    A) the A&M slight was in any way incriminating
    B) it wasn't freaking Bobby Burton

    No need for Taylor and Aubrey's business to suffer because a few sensitive Ags are treating Burton's post like the Gulf of Tonkin.

    Look, I'll be the first to say that if this deal goes down like rivals, I'm out.

    That doesn't mean I'm going to be trigger happy.

    And yea, I think Burton's a tool. But I like Taylor, and I like his work more than I dislike some washed up sip whose playing to his crowd.

    Now to the article. One of the problems with AY is that the mods let OB stockguy them all day,everyday. I thought you guys were different. Love your updates, but see you guys heading down the same path. Fvck that sip loving BB, you should have called him out for who he is. Sad.

    Some of y'alls statements are the most off base assumptions and I find it disrespectful that I don't even get the benefit of the doubt. What do you guys want to hear? That I called up Bobby yesterday morning and let him have it because of the ruckus it started? How about I followed that call up with one to Shannon Terry to express my concerns? I did not and will not get run over by anyone. I'm not naive and the thread title was to bring some damn levity to the situation. Point out one thing that I have written, reported or posted that shows I'm "turning into what rivals used to be"....I freaking hate drama. I've got enough to deal with already trying to keep up with all these kids.

  • i'm still in the process of figuring out whether i want to subscribe to this site, but i'm leaning towards it. that being said, i read burton's update on hookem...i wasnt necessarily offended by it, but what bothered me was the fact that it was clear that he was making veiled attempts to discredit the Aggie program. that's what pissed me off. he discusses martellus and goodson, basically indicating that they were heavily connected to lyles....then a page or two later, after being called out by posters, finally says "well martellus' recruitment was handled by him and his dad"

    pages later. what does that tell you? it indicates to me that he has no urge whatsoever to be objective, and that he's pandering to his audience. that pisses me off.

    the ridiculous part of it all, is that in martellus' case, the sips were RIGHT THERE AT THE END. so why no information about that? why just associate Texas A&M with martellus, when the sips were one of the three schools he was choosing from?

    what bothers me is that it seems like sip sites are always on the offensive regarding insinuations about our programs and we are always on the defensive. they do a helluva job at spewing agenda based media...and we (Texas A&M in general) do nothing to go on the offensive and point the finger right back.

    That's what pisses me off. I thought burton was different. I was wrong.

    well he did post it on the TEXAS site and not the TEXAS A&M site. and I don't think he has ever posted on the TEXAS A&M site.
