    Sadly, Iowa has overpaid for Frentz since he had those two good years in a row around 2004. Since then they have been regretting it...

    That's why overpaying after just a couple seasons is where schools get into trouble/debt.

  • I think it says quite a bit about Sumlin's intentions of being here for a while seeing his pleasure in the increase in asst budget. They could have paid him more, but he knows it is critical to surround himself with the best to remain successful in this business. Kind of similar to Beilema at Arky essentially taking less in his salary (even though it is a large chunk already) to put more in the asst coach budget. Not saying Sumlin took less for this but I imagine he could have gotten 3.5 with 400k less in the asst budget if he wanted.

    Fully agreed. Plus, if the rumors are true of teams already coming after him and allowing A&M admin to step up tells me a lot of where he wants to be right now.
