For the love of God, buy Eddie Williams some shoes and take the field. That dude is a beast.

I agree that dude is a stud.... we need to make it happen.

  • Hey guys. Husker fan here. Just wanted to swing by and check out your thoughts on claiborne. He is Nebraska top uncommitted target currently. We really like him a lot. I think he is going to do well at the next level regardless of if it is with the huskers or not. Good luck this season guys.

  • Thanks, good luck to yall as well. From what has been told to us, it seems like the visit did a lot to even the board for A&M and Nebraska. I think if he gets the blessing from his parents to go that far away, he could likely end up there. Barring something happening with Melvin Jones and LSU, it doesn't look like they will offer another LB and would be a battle between us for him. Agree he is a great athlete and will have success wherever he chooses to play.

    Thanks challenger.

We have 2 committed LB right now.
    4* banderas
3* love - should be a 4* when it's all said and done.

We are recruiting claiborne and Marcus Newby 4* from Maryland. We want both, but I don't see us going after anyone else as long as we got 1 of those. If we get both that would be consecutive classes with 4 LB. Our depth was lacking there last season.

  • We also have 2 in this class right now

Wade: a 4* that is an early enrollee
Chevis: a 3* that likely should also be a 4*

We have quite a few options that the coaches are pursuing from Texas, LA, and Florida mostly I think. We have some depth issues and only took about 1 or 2 last year depending on where they end up playing, but plan on taking about 4-5 HS and 1-2 JUCO LB's in this class if we can get them.

Oh wow... That is a lot of LB in one class... How many guys are you going to sign total? How many high school guys do you think redshirt to even out the classes a little bit?

It will depend on the signing rules in SEC vs Big 12. We can sign 25 in 2013 by SEC rules, and 3 Decomber enrollees that count back towards 2012 class. But we only signed 19 in 2012, so have 6 available scholarships for 2012 so we might be able to have as many as 31 as long as 6 enroll in december, but we still aren't positive if we can take those extra 3 towards 2012 because we were still under Big 12 rules. Regardless we will take between 28 and 31, likely with 3-4 JUCO DL and LB's to try to get some front 7 depth on defense. I don't really know about the red shirting, too early to see what Sumlin does, but I expect a few to redshirt to spread them out class wise a little bit.

Is it better or worse that Bo is recruiting him by himself?

And, you keep beating this dead horse. We have had a terrible defense for years. Sumlin is not known as a defensive minded coach.

Other than location(which is also a big deal), why do you think we should be beating out OU, Auburn and Nebraska for these kids?

    What are our selling points?

What says Sumlin doesn't value the D. He only became an O specialist when he began coaching. He went to college on scholarship as a LB and you can tell he has that LB mentality by the way he talks. (Get a dog) He has to have some inclination toward D or why else would he take on the SEC.
