"The most significant redevelopment in American sports history"

  • Do you guys really think they would move the entire stadium a stones throw from where it is now? Spence park doesnt make it any closer to the middle of campus or the MSC and would have to tear down the VPSA and Predidents house and some of the memorials there like the spirit of bonfire sculpture and the corps of cadets museum. If they move it to the golf course or polo fields that is very removed from everything and not a center piece of campus anymore close to the MSC.

I think they leave it. Parking sucks but at least there is WCG, areas around blue bell, reed, and not to mention all the new indoor facilities. We will see but I can't wait

  • Has the concessions menu been announced? Really looking forward to seeing what they can do.

I second this one! When I was living in Memphis the Grizzlies had Memphis style pulled pork BBQ nachos. If we're gonna do it, do it up right!

  • Any news on whether they're going with a more traditional pee trough, or if urinals will be a staple thoughout?

  • It keeps getting discussed about how the cost is greater with the renovating the current Kyle Field due to tearing down... well, if move kyle (and build new) wont we still have to pay someone to tear down current kyle, haul it away, and clean it all up?

Spence Park allows the stadium to still be close to the new football facilities being built as well as the indoor and outdoor practice fields. Everything that would need to be moved at Spence Park could just be put on the site where Kyle would razed.

I think your misunderstanding. The cost is greater to renovate parts at a time rather than do it all in one shot. They considered renovating the MSC in parts to keep it open but it would have cost a lot more. The cost of a 1-2 project is nothing compared to a 3-4 year Project. There's so much more you have to consider renovating a building that's still open compared to building a brand new one code wise.

  • Like SECAg said, I really don't care where they put it, as long as its done right. That being said, wouldn't it be silly to change the location now that we've built the Bright complex, we're finishing the new workout facility and we've broken ground on the athletic village... all of which is right next to Kyle Field?

Populus has contracted me to design the tailgate lots. Guys, I can't say too much on here, but we're in good hands.

    Hullabaloo.

I'm on the panel reviewing the dance team outfits, so there...

Yes it would. You can essentially build new by demoing the east & west stands, I'd bet this is what is decided upon. It'll be top notch for the worriers...

BTW, I would be all for moving the location to where the golf course is. It's a terrible course anyway.

Spence park would be ideal if you have the space to do whatever you want to do with it. That way you are still close to the MSC/military walk/tailgating around Reed

My dad is on the group that's fundraising and redesigning the golf course. They are closing the course down to completely renovate it.

Yes, but if you look at the drawings in the video, you can overlay them perfectly on Kyle's current position:

  • I wish the video hadn't been deleted. I'm really interested to see what plans they've made. Can anyone give me any rumors?

    From what I can remember:
    - capacity will be between 90 and 100 thousand
    - west campus is not being considered anymore
    - only considering current site, or others on east campus (most popular theory is spence park. Golf course is out)
    - every aspect of being an Aggie is being considered
    - both building new and renovating existing Kyle are still being debated.
    - no chance we play a season away from Kyle.

All I can remember right now. But it sounds like no expense is being spared.

Thanks. That all sounds great for y'all. What season would this take place during?

Yep, I think at this point it's getting a general idea of what you want in the facility and now they're debating the location (Kyle vs Spence).

IMO, the better plan would be to build it at Spence, but they won't. They'll end up rebuilding it in stages at Kyle, take several years and probably end up with something that looks like it was made to fit to the Zone.

  • The Populous video was put up in error and was never meant for public consumption. To the extent that people saw it, feel fortunate. It was a confience builder IMO.

That looks good, but I don't think a two story south zone would push our numbers to where we want them. The day we start the renovation our attendance drops nearly 10K since we have to give each seat an extra 6 inches in width. From 72K, we'd need a mirror image of the north zone to reach 95K

If you compare the new North endzone to the one we have now, there's definitely more seats added there. If the East/West remain consistent and you add a two deck south endzone, then we're likely flirting with 100k
