What are we going to do with unis, team entrance?

  • With our newfangled and popular move to he SEC, it may be time to mix up the status quo and norm Aggies.

Obviously we can't switch apparel partners with contracts in place. What, if anything, should we change about our uniforms and garb? I hope we keep the traditional helmet though.

One thing I'm vehemently against is the drummer boys team entrance. It's flirting with embarrassment every time.

Surely, Sumlin will take a stance, right?

  • There's really nothing at all wrong with our entrance. If Sumlin wants to change it, I'm all for it, but there's nothing wrong with it. Don't know why someone would be vehemently against it and think it's an embarrassment.

  • 86, I haven't been to a game in a while but from what i recall I've not had a problem with team run out. Am I missing something?

  • I really like our entrance with the drum line in front of them. But when we come out in the second half it is pretty dry. I went to a Penn State game and they played Zombienation when the team came out in the second half and the crowd really got into it.

Oh gee, let's play zombie nation like every other school in the country.

For reals. Next thing they'll be asking for is cheerleaders on the sideline. Gross. Why would anyone want hot T&A on the sideline when we can just keep the status quo with our totally heterosexual yell leaders? Btho New Army!

Throw in Nevin Shapiro, and we'll be primed for multi NC's right??

  • You queers need to understand this isn't about YOU. Quit crying like little girls every time something is about to change. You embarrass yourselves.

  • One thing I think we should keep doing is our entrance video. My girlfriend (a Texas grad that is a very big football fan) went with me to the spring game and she said our video is way better than theirs, especially the music. She hates their animated longhorns running around with the crappy music.

I don't think he was saying we HAD to play Zombie Nation.

  • Our entrance would be great if they played some sort of pump up music after the drummer boys. It's a real buzz kill with a cannon going off and running into the war hymn. JMO

  • The drum thing is fine, there just needs to be a transition between that and when the players take the field. Play music or something. Coming out from halftime is an embarrassment and absolutely should change. If we did what VTech did and played Enter Sandman I would punch the old lady sitting next to me in the face.

They aren't Oregon or Oklahoma State but Texas A&M is open to new jerseys

The move from the Big 12 to the SEC has meant sweeping changes in College Station including a new coach, changes to the stadium and even the potential of a new athletic director.

In the time of change many fans have wondered if Texas A&M's jersey's would come next. The landscape in college football has changed with school's like Oregon having as many as 11 different jersey pairings in a season.

Matte finished helmets at school's like Oklahoma State and even state flag jersey's at Maryland have generated attention.

As David Harris and Rob Clark of The Bryan-College Station write, A&M has a dilema of keeping tradition while accepting change when it comes to the jerseys.

A&M's jersey's have remained the same for the most part over the past 25 years.

"You look at our institution, we're seen as a conservative brand overall," said Jason Cook, A&M's vice president of marketing and communications. "We're not going to abandon that foundation of our brand with our football uniforms. We're not an Oregon. We're not an Oklahoma State. But that doesn't mean we can't freshen up some aspects of our uniforms."

A&M has already seen a 27 percent increase in apparel sales since their move to the SEC and a jersey change would only spark more attention.

Adidas, A&M's official outfitter, has redesigned jersey's before for school's but it is understood that the company knows A&M's traditions and respects them when thinking about any changes.

The Aggies have been respected as a good looking team with their maroon and white color scheme but a change would add more flash. More flash appeals to the 17 year old recruits A&M tries to attract and that is where the line is drawn.

Do you leave the look of the school in the hands of what a high school student thinks is cool or what looks best according to team officials and coaches.

"I think that's the argument," head coach Kevin Sumlin said. "We don't want to lose our tradition, and we don't want to lose who we are. But we also are in an extremely competitive business. And kids pay attention to little things. And recruits do. And it's a competitive world."

Time will tell as A&M has several marketing strategies in place for their July 1st official move to the SEC. Who knows, maybe the jersey's will be the last thing to change in Aggieland before they play their first SEC game.
