Not yet a train wreck yet. We only need a good coach and with the young talent and probably at this point, JUCO QB I guess similiar turnaround as Sumlin did with you guys. Though the person won't have two 1st round tackles on the o-line. But seriously, A'Shawn could probably start for us so i would rank him under possibly James as the most likely to decommit. We will see what happens. Will be glad to see the day when Mack is fired or forced to retire. Too many underachieving years.

Tex, what's the word on Mack and the coaching staff? Are you guys going to be making any changes this off season? Honestly, with the talent you guys have you should win every game you play. It would just take the right coaching staff. And maybe a JUCO QB.

at this point, it is status quo until after the bowl game. Now as soon as it hits :00, all bets are off. My prediction: Mack said they all will be back, but Mack will make Manny Diaz the scape goat to appease some fans. Harsin may leave if Peterson takes Arky job or another job because most feel Boise would take Harsin as their next HC. Major moves up to Full OC same everywhere else.

Now, if Major leaves, i bet you Mack gets forced out. I think Major is the one guy fans boosters want to see more of. I do too. i think he deserves a shot and see what he does.

As of right, we are one coach away and probably a JUCO QB or god-like transformation of current QB from competing.

  • Haha you have 4-5 star OTs EVERY YEAR. Yet not one worth a shit come time to play.. When do you stop saying we are ÿoung" You are instead uncoached.

Evaluations, Evaluations, Evaluations....McWhoter was poor at them to say the least. Searles is doing what he can with what he has. None of his recruits are even developed yet, but they are already bigger than 06-2010 guys. We will see what happens.

McWhoter did not have a chance with Matthews, but I guess we might have had a shot with Joeckel and took somebody else.

you guys can thank Shermin for his evals as JF would not have had the season he has had without that O-Line. 6-7 seconds a snap to figure out where the ball goes. That is not a knock on JF (Far from it), but more of a mutual agreement on how great your O-Line is.

  • Don't think texas stands much of a chance against the beavers.

Would texas really retire him a month before signing day though?

Maybe. It is a very similar team to Cal last year so - no they should have no problem with them, but hey its Mack after all.

I think they would hire somebody to try and gain any momentum they could, but that is me.

I agree the O Line is great, but how do you reconcile many of his big plays being broken down plays with saying he has "6-7 seconds a snap" to figure things out. Our oline has gelled a lot, but Manziel ketp many plays alive with his feet and slipped through the grasp of many D linemen. Was that the OL forcing him out of their grasp or Manziel making plays?

I hate reading that he wouldn't have had the same season without that O line. I'd argue he would have fewer passing yards, but potentially more rushing yards.

  • Thank god we didn't land Oliver. We're getting much, much better guys now. Dodged a bullet. Plus you have to question a kid that would choose that fucking train wreck offense over ours. He and his dad need to have their heads examined, to be perfectly honest. Like dating a fat troll when you could go out with a model. Seriously? Good luck with Tyrone Swoopes or some Juco QB throwing the ball to you while the QB is running for his life behind an uber-soft OL.

Nice job, Gary, "guiding" your son.

Oregon State is a very well coached team. They beat UCLA, and Wisconsin. Came close to beating Stanford. More talent on texas side of the ball, but they've had more talent for almost every game this year as well.

BTW--Las Vegas has Oregon State as the favorite...

Oregon State is an overlooked team. Mannion (From around my area) is a very good QB, they play good defense and I love the job Mike Riley has done up there. Much respect to OSU.

No doubt the kid can make plays. I wish we had that dynamic in our offense. I think it is essential in College that is why we had so much success with Colt.

I agree with your argument he would have fewer passing yards and more rushing yards. I use the example of the Alabama game and the "spin, fumble, touchdown" play. Let's say the O'Line does not give him that amount of time to stay in the pocket and instead has to run the play would have resulted in 5-6 yards instead of a touchdown to an open Swope. maybe the ALA defense stops them the next 3 plays and you settle for a field goal instead of starting to blow the game wide open.

I don't like playing hypotheticals because it takes away from the kids accomplishments which are great. You guys have avoided injuries and your offense has clicked - Enjoy it! - We will never know how he would have done without this O'line, but who cares. Success needs to be celebrated.

  • I think a lot of the time in the pocket has as much to do with Manziel's ability to run as it does our O-line. Florida's D-line was flushing him out in the first half, and then realized it just wasn't worth it. Thinking a lot of defenses would rather give him 6-7 seconds to throw than have a defensive lineman get out of their lane and let Manziel escape the pocket.
