Who would I recruit if they were mutually exclusive? Dat started every game of his career so probably him. If I was choosing for just a game or season then I might would choose Von. What makes it hard for me is that they played different positions

Von any day.

He basically willed himself to refuse to let the team lose. And it worked.

Dat wasn't the undeniable "impact player" that Von was either. Well, maybe I mean he wasn't a game changer. As an elite pass rusher, Von's presence alone changed gameplans.

Von is also much more visible and more charismatic, and since he pimps us so hard, he's a walking ad for A&M.

Von will be a very visible fixture for A&M football until the day he dies. Dat just doesn't have that kind of presence on a broad scale. Further, Von's legacy will perpetuate for a couple more generations because, barring injury, he'll probably go on to be a hall of famer.

Von's positive impact for A&M (outside of CS) just has much more staying power than Dat's.
