    People are charged with committing a crime....up to this point no one has said what crime he has committed, so what are the charges supposed to be?

    The Sanford police dept have been saying the shooting falls under the "stand your ground" law so they wouldn't arrest him.....the special prosecuter Corey says she will charge him with the shooting death (not sure if manslaughter/murder).....I guess we'll see what the evidence says to defend both sides.

    No, I did not say I don't have "a clue as to any of the facts". I said there wasn't enough for people to automatically assume he's guilty of anything.

    I'm not trying to make a legal argument about what he should or should not have been charged with. But I never had any doubt that the evidence that we did have -- his own 911 call, conflicting statements from witnesses, etc., we're enough to bring charges. Obviously I don't have enough info to make a guess at what I think the charge should have been.

    I live here in Florida and see these cases pretty regularly these days. In almost every case, if "stand your ground" is a potential defense, it's rarely prosecuted if nobody is actually hurt. But the opposite is almost every case when somebody is shot off of their own property.

    Zimmerman MAY have been getting his head bashed, but what if he started the fight????? So he starts a fight, loses and now he has the right to shoot and kill a teen about 100lbs smaller than him?? Did you listen to the neighbors 911 call?? You hear him screaming for help..

  • I didnt listen to the 911, I stated early that I don't know all the acts. Is it proven that he provoked the fight? If it is then I agree he should be locked away.

    I hadn't really been following this story much, but my perception is this: Zimmerman says it was him screaming for help. Witnesses tell police it was Zimmerman screaming for help. Story gets picked up by media as a racial hate crime, witness changes story that it was actually Martin screaming for help/policed forced them to say it was Zimmerman, and now the media twists this thing up and it blows up to the point of national news organizations intentionally fabricating zimmerman's police call, and the entire world has now already found Zimmerman guilty of murder before officials even brought charges.

    Obviously Zimmerman should have listened to the dispatcher, but not listening to the dispatcher is not murder. What really bothers me about this mess is the media sensationalism and the angry mob controlling this "special prosecutor". If this was black on black or white on white or hispanic on hispanic, this is a non-story. The family of the victim's voice is not heard, and no one really notices or cares nationally or globally that police didn't have enough evidence to charge the guy. The fact that CNN falsely reported that Zimmerman used racist language on the phone call when he didn't, ABC News falsely reported that Zimmerman had no injuries on the back of his head when he did, and NBC intentionally abridging phone call tape to make it sound like Zimmerman was racist when the real tape does not indicate this at all, combined the entire media using an innocent younger photo of the 17 yr old kid that picks fights with 30 year old dudes is all media sensationalism aimed at getting hits and ratings. This is what is really frustrating. You end up with the President of the United States making comments about it and you end up with a guy that the police couldn't charge with murder getting charged with murder because of political and media pressure from the angry mob that was created by media sensationalism.

    Allegedly, he turns around and starts walking back to his car, and then is approached by Trayvon

    The problem with discussing this shit is that everyone wants to jump to conclusions without knowing the facts. We don't know if he continued to follow Trayvon. We do know he claims he turned around and headed back to his car after being told not to. We do know he had a wound on the back of his head, which makes sense given his story. Common sense tells me it was GZ yelling for help, and not Trayvon yelling for help while on top of the dude beating his ass, but we don't know that.

    Good thing is that this trial will get the same amount of media coverage as Casey Anthony did, so we will know everything shortly.

    If he is proven innocent, I'll be first in line to punch Al Sharpton in the face.

  • I also think the DA f'ed up by charging him with Murder 2. Don't see how they will convict on that unless there is A LOT more evidence than what is already out there. But of course, anyone that has sat on a jury knows that there are more than enough emotional dumbasses out there, so it really is luck of the draw.

    Well said. I'm glad you brought up the president bringing it up. To me that is complete bullshit, especially when he doesn't know the truth either. By him supporting travyon he turns Zimmerman into the guilty party when we currently don't know who is guilty.

  • Here is what I think went down... key word here is "think", but my guess has more to do with what we actually know and not me being an emotional bitch.

    -Zimmerman sees kid that resembles burglars in his neighborhood
    -Zimmerman follows, calls cops, Martin runs
    -Cops tell Zimmerman not to follow, he turns around and heads back to where he says the cops should meet him

    All of the above is fact, backed up by the phone conversation that was recorded.
    *********************************
    All of the below is my opinion, based on what we know
    *********************************
    -Zimmerman hangs up and is waiting for cops/walking back to his car to meet cops
    -Martin approaches, asks Zimmerman "do you have a problem?"
    -Zimmerman says "no"
    -Martin says "you do now" and proceeds to punch Zimmerman in the face, knocking him to the ground, where he then gets on top of him and begins to slam his head into the concrete
    -Witness sees Martin on top of Zimmerman, Zimmerman calling out for help, and witness calls police (this is 100% indisputable unless you believe a "voice expert" over someone that actually saw what was going on)

    The above is my opinion on what happened based on facts (Zimmerman's wounds) matching Zimmerman's story (that is his story, and it makes sense)

    -Zimmerman, fearing that Martin could kill him, shoots Martin once in the chest.
