obama has me convinced

  • He's very serious about creating stable jobs. It seems he's doing everything he possibly can to ensure that the next President will have a ton of stuff to un-fvck, guaranteeing at least one person will have a job

    shermanager11

  • We are building a new plant at work. Obama stuck his nose in and said you will hire union guys and like it. We said hell no we will hire whoever we want. He is driving democracy right out the window. This dude is trying to get into the day to day operations of big time businesses. Unreal

    GettinSum

  • At least he didn't outsource them like Bain, amiright? biggrin

    Howdy Ags

  • He's also guaranteed the rich will no longer receive tax breaks and now he's fvcking up an already fvcked welfare program by letting people receive it as long as they attend "educational" programs

    Obama kills welfare reform

Determined to destroy Bill Clinton’s signature achievement, President Obama’s administration has opened a loophole in the 1996 welfare reform legislation big enough to make the law ineffective. Its work requirement — the central feature of the legislation — has been diluted beyond recognition by the bureaucrats at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Obama's viewpoints and philosophy are ...... freighting. Concepts of the Bill of Rights being "negative rights" and on and on...

Creating dependents?! You do know that he inherited the most dire financial crisis since the great depression, right? Years of failed domestic policy and poor oversight was a direct cause for there being an increase in unemployment (among many other things lost) and thus an increase in government aid (such as those you've mentioned) required... Deficit swelling? Sure. But where was your outrage during the 8 years of fighting on two fronts while then President W. Bush was simultaneously lowering taxes at every opportunity? You know, spending without accumulating revenue can certainly swell a deficit... You're absolutely right though, American's do need to wake up, but it shouldn't be to absolute biased opinion spouted at them by partisans (from every side of the political spectrum), or venomous talking heads, draped in the flag (but loyal mostly to the color green); they should wake up and begin evaluating all sides of the issues FOR THEMSELVES in order to actually formulate impartial and objective positions on these important issues...

Who knows what possibilities would arise if the majority of people could be bothered enough to dig a bit deeper?

Oh, and President Obama has not "created" racial tensions; racial tensions existed long before him. I'd say things like Stop and Frisk in NYC exacerbates racial tensions... We should all be diligent in our efforts to guarantee that none of us (no matter what color) have our lives and/or liberty threatened by the servants and institutions sworn to protect them...

  • Kyle there is NOTHING that threatens your freedoms more than the government taking your labor (literally hours out of your life) and giving it to others in society. In Obama's America, record high food stamp recipients get a pat on the back and the producers in society (the ones paying the bills) get a lecture.

Obama's government is running food stamp commercials telling people that food stamps make you healthier when in fact you can do just about anything with food stamps in most states including pay for tattoos and gamble.

We can only remain free if we stop government for taxing us in the pretense of taking care of us. Thomas Jefferson said that.

If you don't know what Obama really believes, you need to dig deeper. His ideas are in his books.

He may not have created it but he definitely made things worse. For example, I see Facebook posts all the time from black A&M football players complaining about how all the white people hate obama because he's black. A lot of people think this, but it couldn't be further from the truth in most cases. I hate him because he sucks at his job

    shermanager11

  • And the other option, Romney, has been lying to the public as well for years. So politicians are about as honest as football coaches, ... What's new here? Corporations and the wealthy need to pay thei fair share of taxes and this money needs to be streamed into a more functional form of government that benefits everyone. Employment is not the problem. Creating jobs that pay living wages is what we need. Of course, we also need people willing to work. Our society is in real trouble but I personally, can't put all the blame on one man, whether black or white. Our government is cpletely disfunctional because our congressional leaders make a point to be in opposition of one another irregardless of the public's needs. In my eyes, this disfunctional and capitalistic greed is what had led so many others to steer towards Socialism. If you let corporations dictate wages and who gets hired without guidelines this becomes nothing short of endentured servitude. No man or woman, living within their needs, should ever be in debt when other people are tipping crystal glasses and $20,000.00 bottle of wine.

  • Politicians are liars. Agreed. But you have to pick the lesser of two evils, or at least the one who hasn't proven his ineptitude yet.

As for "no reason for $20,000 champagne while others are in debt," I disagree with this as a blanketed statement. In some cases, yes, but if I earn more money than someone else because I work harder or do a more important job, I can spend it on whatever the hell I want

Nice speech commrad...shared misery is the life for me as well and those capitalistic dogs shall pay for their crimes.

It is obvious you have no clue as to how an economy functions and have bought the "LIE". The greed you talk about is your own in your envy of others....

Ask the greeks, soviets, brits, portuguese, spanish etc on how that socialism thing is working out.

but keep on thinking the same thing and pass it along to all your occupy buddies who the marxists call the useful idiots.

Whoa Whoa see this is where both parties trick you Buddy. The Democrats and the Republicans always push for the big compaies to succeed. We see this all the time. Of course there is nothing wrong with seeing a company flourish and make a lot of money, BUT when the big companies with all the money start talking into the ears of our politicians instead of hearing our voice then there is a major problem. If you think America is currently a true democracy then you are living in a false reality. If you think 2008 was bad just wait and see whats coming.

To you that's the most threatening affront to freedom, but there are (always have been and always will be) many threats to freedom, so I hate to sound unmitigated and say this one or that one is the MOST threatening, but I do believe I see where you're coming from.

I'd agree that labor is the most valuable of all resources, and I'd go one further and say that far too many trade it away far too cheaply... Most all of us literally trade vast swaths of our lives away for colored paper in order to buy back the things we are producing, while those who so graciously employ us reap the true profits; but that's another issue for another time...

At present, food stamps are an important safety net to some, but I'd agree that they can be abused, and that creating lifelong dependents isn't beneficial to anyone; it's a disservice.

Thomas Jefferson is so very quotable, and I can't tell you how many times I've said the following...

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

He also saw plenty more than taxes as being a threat to freedom (i offer the following regarding banks and armies as examples)...

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies..." - Thomas Jefferson on Private Banks

"Our duty, therefore, is to act upon things as they are, and to make reasonable provision for whatever they may be. Were armies to be raised whenever a speck of war is visible in our horizon, we never should have been without them. Our resources would have been exhausted on dangers which have never happened, instead of being reserved for what is really to take place." - Thomas Jefferson speaking out against maintaining a standing army

My grandma told me that Obama just gave Russia four islands off Alaska, has anyone else heard this? Or is my grandma starting to lose it a little

No clue if this is true or not, I'm on my phone and found this with a quick search:

Obama’s State Department is giving away seven strategic, resource-laden Alaskan islands to the Russians. Yes, to the Putin regime in the Kremlin.

The seven islands in the Arctic Ocean and Bering Sea include one the size of Rhode Island and Delaware combined. The Russians are also to get the tens of thousands of square miles of oil-rich seabed’s surrounding the islands. The Department of Interior estimates billions of barrels of oil are at stake.

The State Department has undertaken the giveaway in the guise of a maritime boundary agreement between Alaska and Siberia. Astoundingly, our federal government itself drew the line to put these seven Alaskan islands on the Russian side. But as an executive agreement, it could be reversed with the stroke of a pen by President Obama or Secretary Clinton.

The agreement was negotiated in total secrecy. The state of Alaska was not allowed to participate in the negotiations, nor was the public given any opportunity for comment. This is despite the fact the Alaska Legislature has passed resolutions of opposition – but the State Department doesn’t seem to care.

The imperiled Arctic Ocean islands include Wrangel, Bennett, Jeannette and Henrietta. Wrangel became American in 1881 with the landing of the U.S. Revenue Marine ship Thomas Corwin. The landing party included the famed naturalist John Muir. It is 3,000 square miles in size.

Northwest of Wrangel are the DeLong Islands, named for George Washington DeLong, the captain of USS Jeannette. Also in 1881, he discovered and claimed these three islands for the United States. He named them for the voyage co-sponsor, New York City newspaper publisher James Gordon Bennett. The ship’s crew received a hero’s welcome back in Washington, and Congress awarded them gold medals.

In the Bering Sea at the far west end of the Aleutian chain are Copper Island, Sea Lion Rock and Sea Otter Rock. They were ceded to the U.S. in Seward’s 1867 treaty with Russia.

Now is the time for the Obama administration to stand up for U.S. and Alaskan rights and invaluable resources. The State Department’s maritime agreement is a loser – it gives us nothing in return for giving up Alaska’s sovereign territory and invaluable resources. We won the Cold War and should start acting like it.
